There was a time when the handyman was tied to the electric power cord and this umbilical cord made certain projects difficult or impractical. Someone who is always wiggling their drill around to fit it into very cramped quarters may well prefer a compact sized drill to a full sized one.
There are possibly as many brands of cordless drills on the market as there are power tool manufacturers. While some brands certainly come with a lot more accessories and extras, the basic models do the job for the budget conscious craftsman. On the other hand, there are few handymen who would turn down the most expensive drill on the market either.
